Running for Brain Tumour Research

On the 8th September, our very own ECommerce and Digital Improvement Manager, Sarah Concannon will be running the Salford 10k to raise money for Brain Tumour Research, 10 years on from losing her mum to the disease.

Sarah will be running the race alongside her younger brother Thomas. Their mum Julie sadly lost her battle to cancer shortly after returning from a family holiday with Sarah and Thomas on the 5th September 2009 at the age of 41.

Brain tumours can affect anyone at any age. They currently kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet historically, only 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to the disease.

With only 3 days separating the 10th anniversary of Julies passing and the 10k run, both Sarah and Thomas thought it was the perfect way to mark the anniversary and raise money for such an amazing charity.

Together they are aiming to raise £1000 to support the charity and will be joined by colleagues and friends from Invopak and Training Qualifications UK, where Thomas works as a Junior Graphic Designer.

The UKFast City of Salford 10K welcomes thousands of runners every year, many of which choose to raise money for a variety of charities. The race runs through the streets and surrounding areas of MediaCityUK, starting and finishing at the MediaCityUK Piazza.

Everyone at Invopak would like to wish Sarah and Thomas all the best for the race.
