Going large for sustainability with recycled IBCs and Drums

Going large for sustainability with recycled IBCs and Drums

We've recently beefed up our recycled plastic line-up to include barrels, drums and IBCs, bringing the benefits of recycled plastic to industrial sizes.

More sustainable - Larger containers close a larger loop

HDPE plastic packaging is an economical, practical and trusted option for storing and shipping products in bulk, and these giants of the packaging universe are now available in recycled plastic.

Recycled plastic IBCs and drums can also be recycled after use helping to close the loop on this type of packaging. Recycled packaging offers a range of business benefits, and is a better choice for the environment.

Choose recycled packaging and save money as well as the environment

Governments across the world have introduced legislation to tackle the issue of plastic pollution.

In the UK the most significant change to hit the packaging industry in recent years has been Plastic Packaging Tax. This tax is currently £217.85 per tonne, a rate that is increasing to £223.69 per tonne from April 2025.

The increased costs of environmental taxation have meant that there’s a real market-led demand for alternatives to virgin plastic.

“It makes sense to choose recycled plastic from a business perspective as well as an environmental one. Environmental taxes are only ever going to go one way - up, and because plastic packaging tax is based on weight, large, heavy containers incur higher charges. Bringing PCR bulk containers, exempt from the plastic tax to market, gives our customers the option to switch to recycled and remove the cost liability of PPT.”

Industrial quality

Advances in plastic recycling systems have meant that it is now possible for manufacturers to make larger products using recycled polymer.

The HDPE plastic used to make IBCs and barrels is one of the most recycled plastics. It is durable and can be recycled multiple times, whilst retaining its practical properties.

This means that our recycled containers offer the same industrial, UN certified quality as the standard range - the only difference is that they are made from recycled plastic.

Choice can only be a good thing when it comes to packaging, and when the choice includes an option that closes the loop on plastic packaging and is more economical, that’s a double win.
