FAQs Plastic Buckets

Can plastic buckets be recycled?

Yes, all of our plastic buckets can be recycled after use. They are made of a single type of plastic, PP, which is simple to recycle too.

What type of plastic are plastic buckets made from?

Plastic buckets are typically made from polypropylene (PP) plastic. This plastic is durable, lightweight, with high impact resistance. Invopak's standard buckets are made from virgin PP plastic, whilst our recycled buckets are made from a mix of virgin and recycled PP polymer.

What sizes of plastic buckets are available?

Plastic buckets are available in a wide range of sizes, from 1 litres to 30 litres. Click here to view the full range of plastic buckets.

What are the benefits of recycled plastic buckets?

Buckets made from recycled plastic are more sustainable, and they are also exempt from plastic tax, making them a good value option too.

Are recycled plastic buckets food grade?

Due to the nature of recycled plastic, recycled plastic buckets are not food grade. If you require a food safe packaging, please choose from our standard range.

What are recycled plastic buckets made from?

Invopak's recycled plastic buckets are made from a mix of virgin PP plastic and recycled PP plastic. The mix is typically 70% recycled plastic to 30% virgin plastic.

Do food-grade plastics contain BPA?

BPA has now been banned in the EU, and the UK looks likely to follow suit. It is still important to check the manufacturer's specification with your supplier.

Are all plastic buckets food grade?

No, not all plastic buckets are food grade. Buckets made using recycled plastic are not food grade due to the nature of recycled plastic, and some buckets may contain BPA, which means they are less suitable for food use. All of Invopak's standard buckets are food safe and BPA free. Please get in touch for more information or if you need migration certificates.

How can I identify a food grade bucket?

Food grade buckets typically have a cup and fork symbol, all of Invopak's standard buckets are food grade and BPA-free.

Why are buckets round?

The main reason that most buckets are round is that it is the most efficient shape to make. Round injection moulds require less complex tooling, they cool faster and use plastic more efficiently. There are benefits to the user too; they have superior strength, are easy to clean and carry, and they nest well.

What are the benefits of round buckets?

Round buckets are the standard shape for a reason. The curved walls are structurally strong, and the round shape is also cheaper to produce, making them a cost-effective packaging choice too. Round buckets are easy to clean because there are no corners to trap dirt or residue, and because the centre of gravity stays aligned under that handle, they are more comfortable to carry.

Which type of products should be stored in round buckets?

Round buckets are a good choice for products that need to be stirred, such as paints and coatings, because stirring tools naturally follow a circular motion. This means there are no "dead zones" where the contents aren't properly mixed (which is more likely with square buckets). They are a cost-effective and practical option for any product that needs airtight, watertight storage, including dried goods, food and beverage ingredients, pastes, powders, and finishes.

Can plastic buckets be printed?

Yes, we offer an IML printing service across our bucket range (MOQs apply), please get in touchh with the team to find out more.

What colours of plastic buckets can you buy?

Many of our buckets are available in white, black and clear options, whilst grey is the standard across our recycled range. All other colours are available on an order-to-order basis. Please get in touch with the team if you require something special.

How do square and rectangular buckets lower shipping costs?

Square buckets can be packed edge-to-edge, eliminating empty gaps. This means there is no "wasted space," so you can ship more products per pallet, reducing your per-unit freight expenses.

What industries benefit most from square and rectangular buckets?

Square-edged buckets are commonly used in food service because their space-efficient design maximises shelf space. They are also a popular option for paints and coatings, because their wide shape is easy to use with paint rollers. They are also used in chemical manufacturing, agriculture and construction, and are used to store everything from bulk ingredients to agri-chemicals.

How do square buckets and rectangular buckets save space compared to round buckets?

Buckets with square edges have sides that fit flush with other buckets as well as the sides of a packing box, pallet or warehouse shelf. This eliminates the dead space created by the curved edges of round buckets. You can store up to 20% more volume in the same footprint.
