  • WHY CAN I ONLY BUY IN PACK OR PALLET QUANTITIES?

PRODUCTS & TECHNICAL INFO

  • WHAT DOES LACQUERED MEAN?

Lacquered containers have a protective coating on the inside which prevents the metal from rusting or oxidising when used with water-based products.

Some of our lacquered products, such as our aluminium bottles are lacquered to make them suitable for food use. The lacquer protects the food from metal contamination or discolouration as well as preventing acidic products from corroding the container.

Some of our products, including our lever lid tins, pails and rectangles have an external lacquer or coating. This is usually white. This external lacquer protects the metal from environmental damage.

N.B. Where a metal product is described as plain, then no internal coating has been applied.

  • WHAT IS FLUORINATION?

Fluorination makes plastic resistant to chemical corrosion and solvent permeation.

During the fluorination process, the plastic is exposed to fluorine gas which chemically alters the surface structure. Fluorination is embedded within the plastic, which means the process is permanent, it’s not a coating or a layer, so it’s extremely durable and won’t degrade or separate over time.

Fluorinated containers are suitable for storing solvents and chemicals that would react with untreated plastic surfaces. Fluorinated bottles and jerry cans can be used to store a wide range of products including swimming pool chemicals, agrochemicals, lubricants, automotive additives and solvents.

Fluorination also reduces odour emission and flavour and fragrance loss, which makes them ideal for use in the food and beverage industry.

  • WHAT DOES 'UN APPROVED' MEAN?

UN Approved or UN Certified containers, are containers that have been officially approved and certified for the transportation and sending of goods on the UN Dangerous Goods List.

UN approval means that the products have passed stringent testing for the transport of hazardous goods and substances.

Please contact us if you require a UN Certificate for one of our products.

For more information on what UN Codes mean, visit our guide here.

  • HOW DO I KNOW IF A CONTAINER IS SUITABLE FOR FOOD?

If a product is Food Grade then it is safe for food and beverage use. Many of our products are designed for the food and drink industry.

You can find out if a product is food safe by checking the specification table.

Our food grade containers are manufactured within a BRC environment.
