Glass Beakers
Our selection of laboratory glass beakers are made from borosilicate glass. This means our glass beakers have excellent optical clarity and high thermal resistance, making them suitable for lab use. Our glass beakers have a volume measurement scale for easy reference, and a glass handle for safe and controlled pouring.
Invopak's glass lab beakers are designed for holding, mixing, and measuring liquids in the lab. The flat bottom beaker glass allows even heat distribution, and because the borosilicate glass has high thermal shock resistance, it can be heated directly on a Bunsen burner.
Our lab beakers are available in a selection of small, medium and large sizes, including 50ml, 100ml, 250ml, 400ml, 600ml and 1 litre capacities.
Whether you need a glass beaker for small-scale experiments or a set of glass beakers for professional use, Invopak offers durable options for every setting. Easy to clean and resistant to chemicals, our glass beakers provide reliable performance in educational, laboratory, and industrial environments.
The benefits of Academy glass measuring beakers
- Borosilicate glass: A highly durable glass that is suitable for laboratory use
- Heat resistant: High thermal-shock resistance means the beakers can be heated to high temperatures without cracking.
- Autoclave safe: Borosilicate glass can withstand the extreme heat and pressure variations necessary for sterilisation cycles.
- Excellent optical clarity: Clear content visibility means good accuracy of colour, precipitates, and liquid levels
- Chemically inert: Glass is inert, so it will not react with the contents
- Sustainable: Glass is made from natural raw materials, and it can be reused and recycled forever
Common industry applications for glass measuring beakers
- Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology use: Glass beakers are ideal for reagent preparation and pre-formulation testing, and sterile liquid transfers
- Chemical manufacturing & processing: They can be used as reaction vessels to safely mix acids, bases and solvents, and the flat base helps dry out solutions quickly.
- Cosmetics & Personal care: Glass measuring beakers can be used for small-batch bottling, ingredient blending, and for heating waxes and oils before use.
- Food & Beverage testing: Measuring jugs are useful for quality control testing, product formulation and acidity and PH testing of food ingredients and recipes.
- Academic & Research Laboratories: Clear glass and easy-to-read scales make the jugs ideal for demonstrations in the classroom as well as benchwork.

FAQs Glass Containers & Labware
Can glass containers be recycled?
Yes, glass is 100% recylcable and can be recycled forever with no loss of quality.
Which glass containers are available to buy from Invopak online?
Powder glass jars, glass bottles, round reagent bottles, square reagent bottles, glass vials, glass beakers, glass measuring cylinders, volumetric flasks, and Erlenmeyer flasks are all available to purchase online. Other sizes, styles and colours of glass containers are also available on request. Please get in touch with the team to discuss your requirements.
What is borosilicate glass?
Borosilicate glass has high thermal resistance and chemical durability. This is achieved through the addition of boron trioxide in the manufacturing process. Vessels made from borosilicate glass are suitable for laboratory and kitchen use.
What is soda-lime glass?
Soda lime glass is the most common type of glass (approx 90% of all manufactured glass is soda lime). It is made from silica sand, sodium oxide (soda) and calcium oxide (lime). It has excellent optical clarity and is the economic choice. However, unlike borosilicate glass, it has low resistance and may crack if exposed to sudden temperature changes.
What is the difference between Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3 glass?
- Type 1 glass is Borosilicate glass; this type of glass has high thermal shock resistance, so it can withstand high temperatures, it has high chemical resistance and is autoclave safe. This is why type 1 Borosilicate glass is the standard glass for laboratory, scientific and oven use.
- Type 2 glass is treated soda-lime glass. It is a specialist glass designed for use in the pharmaceutical and medical industries for liquid medications.
- Type 3 glass is standard soda-lime silica glass. It is the most common type of glass and is the glass used for jam jars, beverage bottles and .
What are soda glass containers used for?
Soda glass containers are suitable for storing powders and liquids.
Which type of glass is suitable for laboratory use?
Borosilicate glass is designed for laboratory use. It has high thermal and chemical resistance, so it is suitable for storing chemicals and for use in heated lab tests and experiments.
Are glass containers food grade?
Yes, all our glass bottles, beakers and vials are safe for food use.
Do glass bottles and jars come with caps and lids included?
It depends; our reagent bottles, powder bottles, and glass vials all come complete with screw-top closures. Closures must be ordered separately for our Winchester glass bottles. Matching closures can be easily ordered from the product page using the "quick add" function.
What are coloured glass containers used for?
Coloured glass containers, like our amber glass bottles and jars, block UV light, they are used for light-sensitive powders, pastes and liquids.
What are the benefits of amber glass containers?
Amber glass containers offer excellent UV protection
What sizes of glass sample vial bottles are available to buy online?
Sample bottles are available in a wide range of sizes. The smallest size is 1.75ml. 7ml and 28ml are also available to purchase online, with other sizes available on request.
What is a Winchester bottle and what is it used for?
Winchester bottles are known as Boston rounds in the US. They have a flat base, a wide cylindrical body and a rounded shoulder that tapers to a narrow neck. The bottle is designed to be stable and easy to pour. They are often made from thick amber glass to protect the contents from light degradation. Winchester bottles are commonly used for liquids, oils, chemicals, solvents and pharmaceuticals.
