What is the difference between standard and recycled plastic drums and kegs?

The standard and recycled plastic kegs look the same, but recycled plastic kegs are made from 30% recycled plastic, so they are plastic tax exempt. However recycled drums and kegs are not food grade.

What sizes of plastic drums can you buy?

Our standard plastic drums and recycled plastic drums are available in four sizes. The most common size is 220 litres, which is available in an open top and tighthead version. We also offer 30 litre, 60 litre and 120 litre sizes.

Do plastic drums come with closures?

Yes, both our standard plastic drums and our recycled drums come complete with a push-fit lid and ring latch closure.

What are recycled plastic barrels and drums made from?

Our recycled plastic drums and barrels are made from a combination of virgin HDPE plastic and recycled HDPE plastic. This means they are as strong and durable as a standard drum but are exempt from plastic tax and a more sustainable option.

Can recycled plastic drums be recycled?

Yes, our recycled plastic kegs and drums can be recycled after use. They are made of a single type of plastic, HDPE, which is simple to recycle.

Why are the recycled kegs and drums not made from 100% recycled plastic?

They are made from a blend of 30% recycled plastic and 70% virgin plastic to retain the structural integrity necessary for UN approval. By including 30% recycled plastic, they still meet the criteria for plastic tax exemption.

Are recycled plastic drums food grade?

No, due to the nature of recycled plastic, recycled drums and kegs are not certified food grade. If you need food grade plastic barrels, then you can order them here.

Are recycled plastic drums cheaper than standard plastic drums?

Recycled plastic drums are typically cheaper than standard plastic drums because they are exempt from the plastic tax.

Are recycled plastic barrels and kegs UN certified?

Yes, Invopak's recycled plastic barrels and kegs are UN certified for safe shipping and export. Certificates are available on request, just get in touch here.

Do recycled plastic drums have handles?

Yes, the smaller-sized recycled drums, 30 litre and the 60 litre have handles. The 120 litre and 220 litre sizes do not have handles.

Made from 30% recycled HDPE plastic, PCR drums are exempt from the Plastic Packaging Tax, which means you can save up to £24.56 per pallet. (Plastic Packaging Tax is added on virgin plastic products at checkout).
