It was a bright and frosty morning for the first day of the National Painting and Decorating Show 2024 held at the Coventry Arena. The central location was a great place for everyone in the trade to meet customers and suppliers, try new products and perhaps even pick up a few freebies!

From a photograph to the real thing!: The Invopak paint tins are brought to life

It was a big moment for us as it was the first time we've exhibited as a manufacturer, and it was the perfect place for us to showcase our "Made in Manchester" lever lid tins and rectangle tins. It was also an opportunity for us to catch up with some of our customers, many of whom had their own stands at the show.

Show Trends: Heritage and New Technology

Quality and brand heritage were much in evidence, with businesses proudly highlighting their years of experience, with dates stretching back to 1968, 1938, 1927 and beyond.

British manufacturing was out in force and there were lots of "made in Britain" logos to be found on everything from brushes to coatings to cleaning products (and of course our tins!).

It wasn't just UK businesses exhibiting, there were also some big multi-nationals as well as a sprinkling of American and European brands also showcasing their products.

One of the biggest benefits of a show like this is that it gives customers a chance to try new things. Whether it's an advanced paint sprayer, a wall-coating that skims itself or an antimicrobial paint, the show gives professionals a chance to ask questions and take that new sander for a test drive.

Fun was the order of the day on many stands. Visitors could try their luck on the roulette wheel, show off their dart skills and refine their golf put. There were some impressive video walls, including one that doubled up as a Mario Kart gaming screen!

There was plenty of time for fun too - including a spot of Mario Kart

Adding to the show smiles (particularly for the younger showgoers) were the team mascots. The classic Dulux sheepdog was joined on this occasion by a couple of paint tins and even a tube of sealant.

It all helped to create a great atmosphere and by the end of the day arms were groaning with the weight of goodie bags and show deals. As one American visitor was overheard saying,“I do painting shows all around the world and this is a good one” and we'd have to agree.

See you next year!
