FAQs Recycled Plastic Containers

What is the difference between standard and recycled plastic containers?

Recycled plastic containers are made from a minimum of 30% recycled plastic, which means they are a more sustainable choice and are also exempt from plastic tax.

What types of recycled plastic containers can you buy?

Most of our plastic container ranges are available in a recycled plastic option. This includes UN approved recycled plastic jerry cans, food-grade recycled plastic jerry cans, kegs, drums, buckets, bottles and IBCs.

What are recycled plastic containers made from?

Our recycled plastic containers are made from a mix of virgin and recycled plastic. Our buckets are made from virgin and recycled PP plastic, whilst our jerry cans, IBCs, and barrels are made from virgin and recycled HDPE plastic. This mix of raw and re-used polymer ensures that the containers maintain the necessary structural strength and durability, whilst being more sustainable. Because our recycled plastic containers are made from a single type of plastic material, they can be easily recycled after use.

Can recycled plastic containers be recycled?

Yes, because they are made from PP or HDPE polymer, all of our plastic containers are suitable for recycling after use.

Why are the recycled containers not made from 100% recycled plastic?

Our recycled containers are made from a blend of recycled plastic and virgin plastic to retain the structural integrity necessary for industrial use. By including at least 30% recycled plastic, they still meet the criteria for plastic tax exemption.

Are recycled plastic containers suitable for food, beverage and catering use?

Recycled plastic containers are not usually suitable for food and beverage use because they are not certified food grade. This is due to the difficulty of tracing recycled polymer. The exeption to this is our coex bottles and jerry cans, these have a layered construction. The food-facing internal surface of the container is made from virgin plastic, which means they are certified safe for food nd beverage use.

Are recycled plastic containers cheaper than standard plastic containers?

Recycled plastic containers can be cheaper than standard plastic containers because they are exempt from the plastic tax.

Are recycled plastic containers UN certified?

Yes, our recycled plastic drums, barrels and some of our recycled plastic jerry cans are UN approved. Certificates are available on request; just get in touch here.

Are recycled plastic containers suitable for chemicals and hazardous liquids?

Yes, our range of Eco-UN plastic containers is UN certified and suitable for powders, chemicals and liquids. The range includes tighthead drums and stackable jerry cans.

Recycled Plastic Drums & Kegs

Made from 30% recycled HDPE plastic, PCR drums are exempt from the Plastic Packaging Tax, which means you can save up to £24.56 per pallet. (Plastic Packaging Tax is added on virgin plastic products at checkout).
