Invopak's Eco-UN jerry cans: New colours added to the line-up

Our popular range of Eco-UN jerry cans is now available in blue, black, white and natural, in 5 litre, 10 litre, 15 litre, 20 litre and 25 litre sizes. They offer the same look, strength and UN-certified durability as virgin plastic jerry cans, but are made from at least 30% recycled plastic. This means they are exempt from the plastic packaging tax and are a more sustainable option.

Eco-UN Jerry Cans: Sustainable and Durable

The new additions to Invopak's recycled plastic packaging line-up supports our initiative to supply more sustainable packaging options, as Scott Sandilands, Invopak's CRO, explains,

“We're pleased to be offering more choice to our customers, with the introduction of blue, white and black jerry cans to our UN-approved recycled plastic range. It means businesses can use a more sustainable jerry can that doesn’t compromise quality.  The Eco-UN jerrys are made from 30% recycled plastic, so there’s no plastic tax to pay, which is a real benefit, especially given the rate at which environmental taxes are increasing.”

Helping to Close the Loop on Plastic Packaging

Making packaging from recycled polymers turns plastic waste into a useful product and helps to preserve natural resources. It is also a step forward towards creating a closed-loop system, where plastics are used and reused, rather than entering the waste stream immediately after use.

The HDPE used to make our Eco-UN jerry cans is considered to be one of the best and most easily recycled plastics. It is durable enough to be recycled numerous times, and is universally recycled both at kerbside collection and at an industrial level.

EPR Modulation and the Importance of Recyclability

Environmental Packaging Responsibility (EPR) legislation is moving to a modulated fee model later this year. This means fees will be charged on a sliding scale based on the packaging's recyclability. This switch aims to incentivise packaging recyclability by charging a lower rate on more easily recycled products.

Single-material packaging, such as our HDPE jerry cans and PP buckets, is likely to have a lower EPR fee rate than multi-material or composite solutions. You can find out more about EPR here.
