FAQs

Can jerry cans be recycled?

Yes, all of our plastic jerry cans can be recycled after use. They are made of a single type of plastic, HDPE, which is simple to recycle too.

What is the difference between stackable and non-stackable jerry cans?

Non-stackable and stackable jerry cans have different shapes. Non-stackables have a moulded handle and are available in smaller sizes, such as 1 litre, 2 litre, 2.5 litre and 5 litres. As the name suggests, they can not be stacked. Stackable jerry cans have a flattened top with a recessed handle, with registration studs, and they are designed to be stored on top of each other. Stackable jerry cans are available in larger sizes from 5 litre up to 30 litres, making them ideal for bulk quantities.

What is the difference between white and natural coloured jerry cans?

Natural coloured jerry cans are an off-white colour that is slightly transparent, so that the fill-level is viewable, whereas the white jerry cans are opaque.

What are recycled plastic jerry cans made from?

Our recycled plastic jerry cans are made from a combination of virgin HDPE plastic and recycled HDPE plastic. This means they are as strong and durable as a standard container but are exempt from plastic tax and are a more sustainable option.

Are there any differences between standard and recycled plastic jerry cans?

The standard and recycled plastic jerry cans look the same, but recycled plastic cans are made from 30% recycled plastic, so they are plastic tax exempt. Due to differences in the manufacturing process, our coex non-stackable jerry cans are food grade, whilst our non-stackable recycled jerry cans are not. Please get in touch if you are unsure which containers are right for your business.

Why are recycled jerry cans not made from 100% recycled plastic?

Our recycled plastic jerry cans are made from a blend of 30% recycled plastic and 70% virgin plastic to maintain the necessary structural integrity of the container. Including 30% recycled plastic, they still meet the criteria for plastic tax exemption.

Are recycled plastic jerry cans food grade?

Our 5 litre coex recycled plastic jerry cans are food grade because they are made using a core of recycled polymer, layered with food-grade virgin polymer. Our stackable jerry cans are not food grade. If you need stackable food grade jerry cans, then you can order them here.

Are recycled plastic jerry cans UN certified?

Our stackable Eco-UN jerry cans are made from recycled plastic and are UN certified for safe shipping and export. The range includes 5 litre, 10 litre, 20 litre and 25 litre options. Certificates are available on request, just get in touch here.

What type of caps and closures do jerry cans use?

Jerry can caps come in a variety of sizes and styles, so it is important to check the neck diameter of your jerry can before you place an order. The most common sizes are 38mm, 51mm, and 61mm and they are available in tamper evident and vented styles.
